Lost In Translation

Finally I saw this movie. What a great movie it is! It shows what is different between western culture and Japan. When I was in Japan, sometimes I thought we have a strange custom in common life. But now I feel it much stronger, and this movie shows at this point clearly. If you see this movie, you can know that what would you feel if you're in Japan alone...

On the other hand, I had deep sympathy for a heroine of this movie... unstable, missing, boring, wired, confused... in another country. I think it's still difficult for foreigners to live in Japan, it's also difficult for some Japanese. :-p If you want to know the real Japan; especially Tokyo, I recommend you to see this movie.

Yes, I really liked this movie too.. it's one of my favorite movies to watch around 2:00 am when you're feeling a little lonely.

I'm actually kind of living that movie right now. I just moved to Toyko last week and planning to stay here 3 years.
Throughout the whole movie, the two characters have jet lag and can't sleep... well I had the same experience, for a week I would try to sleep at midnight and then I would be awake at 4:00 am so I took many walks at night.
The difference between me and her is that she knows she'll be going back home in shortly... I'm here only a week and I already feel kind of lonely in this sea of faces.
I have some friends here but they are busy leading their normal lives and I can't ask them to hold my hand.. I just got internet at home but still no ketai so it's difficult for anyone to reach me.. When I moved here, in one day I went from 'master of my domain' to an illiterate who can't even read a restaurant menu or subway map.
Oddly enough, Lost in Translation is the only DVD I brought with me from Montreal as I thought it was kind of fitting with my situation... I guess I'll also have to watch again soon.
